Business in Singapore

Yesterday I had a meeting with our potential business partner in Singapore who focuses on training & education for children & parents. According to her, plans for expanding her business in Malaysia are under way and she would also like to bring some of our more unique training programs, such as ‘Employee Wellness’ into Singapore.

She frequently comes to Malaysia for business trips apart being ‘driven’ by the attraction of local Malaysian food such as Satay Kajang, Durian kampung and other delicacies. What I have come to know from watching Discovery channel is that Singapore is the biggest importer of crabs from Sri Lanka and have become experts in the way theh chilli crab dish is cooked.

Back in the early 80’s, a drive down to Singapore was closely associated with buying lychee. The logic at that time might have been the higher value of the MYR which enables shoppers from Malaysia to enjoy good bargains in Singapore. The situation in therms of currency exchange today has been reversed.
